Taare Zameen Par Screened in Seattle

Bollywood star Aamir Khan's belief that people across the globe react to some films in the same way was reaffirmed when his film got a standing ovation from the audience present at a special screening in Seattle.

Aamir's directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par, which released in India December 21, 2007, moved the audience with its sensitive subject of an eight-year-old dyslexic boy and a teacher, played by Aamir, bringing the child out of his predicament. The film drew a similar response in Seattle October 29, where it was being screened for the annual conference of the International Dyslexia Association.

High Court asks Government on kids with learning disabilities

  Taare Zameen Par might have highlighted the plight of kids with learning disabilities, but here is an intervention which promises to address issues concerning them and others who are differently abled. A concerned Delhi High Court on Wednesday demanded a detailed schoolwise and classwise census of kids enrolled in MCD and Delhi government schools who suffer from such disabilities. The government has two weeks time to table the data before a bench comprising Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar.

Taare Zameen Par to compete with 66 entries for the foreign language Oscar category

Amir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par (2007), will have to compete against a record 66 entries for the foreign language Oscar category. Nominations for the 81st Academy Awards will be announced on January 22, 2009 while the awards will be presented on February 22, 2009.
